A card can suggest a question to explore; it cannot establish another person’s intentions, predict an outcome, or replace medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice.

The Six of Wands is a victory parade. In Smith's 1909 drawing a rider on a white horse wears a laurel wreath and carries a second wreath on his staff, while a small crowd walks beside him holding staves of their own.

What Six of Wands shows

The centre of the card is a horseman in a red robe, crowned with laurel, sitting upright on a white horse draped in a green cloth. His staff is topped with another wreath, held high for everyone to see. Around him walk five figures on foot, each carrying a staff, and their raised wands with his make six. The background is a simple green and pale sky; the crowd is the scenery. Laurel has meant victory since ancient Greece and Rome, and here it appears twice, on the head and on the wand, as both personal and public honour. The white horse suggests a cause that was clean. The crowd matters as much as the rider: this is success that other people recognise and celebrate, not private satisfaction.

Six of Wands Upright

The Six of Wands upright means a win that people can see. It shows up when you pass the exam, get the promotion, win the pitch, finish the marathon or post the news and the congratulations pour in. The struggle of the Five is over and you have come out in front. There is often a public element: a ceremony, an announcement, applause, an audience of some kind. The card can also describe confidence itself, the feeling of walking into a room knowing you have earned your place there. The card also favours anyone stepping into a leadership role. Enjoy it, and notice who walked with you, because the people in the crowd are part of the win. The feeling is pride without apology.

Six of Wands in love

For someone single the Six of Wands suggests a period of being noticed and admired, with confidence that draws people in. A romantic pursuit succeeds, or someone you have been hoping for makes their interest public. For couples it can mean the relationship being celebrated by friends and family, going public with a partnership, or a shared achievement such as finishing a renovation or reaching an anniversary. The card also warns gently against one partner needing to be the star at the other's expense.

Six of Wands in career & money

At work the Six of Wands is recognition: an award, a promotion, a successful presentation, a bonus tied to results, or a project that is praised by the people who matter. Leadership is implied, since the rider is at the front and others follow. If you are job hunting, it favours an offer over rival candidates. With money it points to rewards for effort already made rather than luck, such as a raise, a prize or a well-earned commission.

Six of Wands as advice

Accept the credit gracefully and share it accurately. Say thank you in public, name the people who helped, and let yourself be seen enjoying the moment. If you are about to present, negotiate or compete, go in with your head up because the card favours confident visibility. Do not undersell yourself, and do not oversell either; the wreath speaks for itself.

Six of Wands Reversed

Reversed, the Six of Wands is the parade that did not happen or the rider who fell off. In its blocked form your work has gone unrecognised, someone else took the credit, or a win you expected went to a rival. In its excessive form it describes ego, showing off, and a need for applause that has grown larger than the achievement behind it, sometimes ending in a public fall from grace. Turned inward it is self-doubt and a fear of being seen, so that you avoid the spotlight even when you have earned it. The Seven of Swords or Five of Swords point to credit being stolen. The Emperor reversed or King of Wands reversed nearby suggest arrogance. The Eight of Swords or the Moon suggest the block is inside you.

Reversed in love & career

In relationships the reversed Six of Wands can show a partner who needs constant admiration, competition between partners over who is more successful, or a romance that looked good on social media but felt empty at home. At work it points to a promotion that went elsewhere, an award that was expected and never came, or a public setback that dents your reputation. Financially, be careful of spending to keep up an image. The fix is usually to reconnect with why you wanted the win at all.

Six of Wands with other cards

With The Sun the Six of Wands doubles down on joy and public success, and there is little ambiguity left. Beside the Ten of Wands the victory comes with heavy responsibilities, and the wreath weighs more than expected. Paired with the Five of Swords the card warns that the win may have cost relationships or been gained by cutting corners, so check the price. Timing is short: recognition tends to arrive within a couple of weeks, often tied to a specific event. The decan is Jupiter in Leo, the middle third of Leo season, roughly the first ten days of August.
